Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, died after a protracted battle with leukaemia.

Akeredolu allegedly died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Lagos.

He was 67 years old at the time.

According to reports, Akeredolu was being treated by State House physicians up to his death since they couldn’t transport him overseas owing to his illness.

“Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos,” the source said.

“They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week.”

After a backlash erupted over his lengthy medical vacation in Germany, Akeredolu came home.

He subsequently returned to his Ibadan mansion, causing additional political turmoil in his state, particularly with the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Following President Tinubu’s intervention, Akeredolu gave over control to his deputy and went on another medical leave.
