Wale Akinterinwa, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has stated that he will attend the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invitation on Thursday.
Akinterinwa, who competed against 15 others for the party’s governorship ticket last Saturday, was summoned by the EFCC due to financial misconduct.
Previous reports suggested that the EFCC was looking into Akinterinwa for allegedly mishandling billions of Naira while serving as the Commissioner for Finance under the late Rotimi Akeredolu‘s administration.
The report claimed that he was asked to come in for questioning by the EFCC a few weeks ago, but he was too occupied to comply with the request.
However, in a post on his verified X handle on Thursday, he said, “Today, I will be honouring the invitation from the EFCC to shed more light on some issues that the commission wants clarification on.
“I have confidence in the anti-graft agency to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is done”.
