The All Progressives Congress (APC) has acknowledged that certain policies being carried out by the Bola Tinubu administration are causing difficulties for many Nigerians.

However, in a statement released on Sunday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party emphasized that the federal government is enacting necessary reforms for the country’s economic recovery, sustainable growth, and prosperity.

Morka responded to the advice from a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor, urging Tinubu to step down due to the hardships faced by Nigerians.

“A federal system like ours operates on the idea of shared, constitutionally delineated responsibilities among the three tiers of government: federal, state, and local governments,” Morka said.

“Effective governance requires collaboration and coordination among all three levels to deliver the dividends of democracy to citizens.

“By virtue of their membership in the National Economic Council and National Council of State, governors bear a solemn duty to proffer constructive ideas and solutions to the challenges of governance,” he added.

He mentioned that governors, like all citizens, have the right to free speech, but it should be used responsibly.

He emphasized the importance of avoiding reckless statements that could provoke anger and social unrest.

He also stated that comparing Nigeria to Venezuela, despite the difficult economic and security situations in Nigeria, is unjustified.

Morka pointed out that instead of fulfilling their duties as state leaders, the PDP governors have become pessimistic and negative.

He stated that the PDP governors were trying to cover up their own failures by speaking loudly to distract from the suffering of their citizens due to their lack of action, incompetence, and poor performance.

The APC spokesperson criticized the PDP governors for asking Tinubu to resign, calling it a clear admission of their own guilt.

He found it hypocritical that the same PDP governors who had not accounted for the federal funds given to their states were now shifting blame.

Morka suggested that if the PDP governors were truly concerned about accountability, they should lead by example and step down from their positions.

He emphasized that instead of blaming the federal government, they should utilize the resources available to them to improve the lives of the people.

Morka commended Tinubu for taking responsibility and providing leadership during a challenging period of economic transformation in the country.

“Our people are going through transient but painful difficulties that the administration is supremely determined to mitigate as these policies begin to yield desired results.

“Nigerians deserve to live in peace and security, with access to basic social and economic amenities.

“Our party urges patience during these turbulent times as our nation soars unstoppably to firmer ground and a more prosperous future,” Morka said.
