Manchester United closed the gap to the top four in the Premier League by earning a crucial win at Villa Park on Sunday.

Scott McTominay once again emerged as United’s hero in the dying minutes of the game, scoring a late goal with a powerful header that beat Emiliano Martinez.

Aston Villa put up a spirited performance, particularly in the first half, where Jacob Ramsey stood out. Despite Rasmus Hojlund giving United the lead after 17 minutes, it was the home side that had better chances throughout the match.

In the latter part of the second half, Aston Villa managed to equalize as Douglas Luiz skillfully tapped in a loose ball following a corner.

The match appeared to be heading towards a draw until McTominay intervened late in the game to secure a victory for Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s squad remains in sixth position, but they now trail Aston Villa by five points and Tottenham by six points in the competition for Champions League qualification.
