Lyon have reportedly launched a £21m bid in a move to snatch Chelsea star Christian Pulisic from under the nose of AC Milan had made a £12 million ($15 million) for USMNT player.
The Athletic reports that Milan made a verbal opening offer for Pulisic on Sunday after identifying him as a major target.
The US men’s national team winger has already agreed on personal terms to leave Chelsea, where he is under contract until 2024.
The Blues are reportedly demanding for at least £20 million ($26 million) for Pulisic, but Milan are hoping to reduce that asking price. As they look to enhance their attacking options for next season, the Rossoneri hope to reunite Pulisic with his former Chelsea teammate Olivier Giroud.
Milan have established a strong commercial partnership with Chelsea, having signed Fikayo Tomori in 2021 and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a £15 million deal last week. Pulisic is reportedly pushing to join the duo at San Siro, but Milan aren’t the only ones interested.
According to The Athletic, Lyon has made an offer of £21 million ($27 million) for the USMNT talisman, with a “meaningful sell-on clause.” After delivering a written offer that matched Chelsea’s value of Pulisic, the French club has moved ahead of Milan in the fight for the player.
As things stand, the Chelsea forward is scheduled to report for pre-season training later this month under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, but there is now a fair probability he will join the club’s long list of summer departures
