Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, and his brother have been released from the private health facility where they were taken for treatment after a fire destroyed their residence in Abuja on Wednesday.
The National Youth Leader of the party, Kennedy Ahanotu, disclosed the news of their discharge to the media on Friday afternoon.
“Yes, the national chairman has been discharged and asked to come back tomorrow for further check-up. He is hale and hearty and looked far better than when he was rushed to the hospital yesterday,” Ahanotu told our correspondent on the phone.
A fire reportedly broke out in Abure’s home in Abuja on Wednesday.
A statement released after the fire, which started just after 1 a.m., suggested that it may have been an attempted assassination on Abure.
Members of the National Working Committee of LP, who spoke to the press, acknowledged that Abure’s security team had taken action, but it was recommended that Abure should personally report the incident to the police once he is released from the hospital.
Ahanotu informed the press on Thursday morning that both Abure and his brother were in stable condition before being discharged from the hospital.
