Lauren James and Niamh Charles, both Lionesses, have been nominated for the WSL Player of the Year prize at the London Football Awards.
James and Charles are also nominated for the Women’s Super League Player of the Year award, along with their Chelsea teammate Reiten.
Additionally, Katie McCabe from Arsenal and Martha Thomas from Tottenham have received nominations. For the Young Player of the Year award, Kyra Cooney-Cross from Arsenal, Agnes Beever-Jones from Chelsea, and Grace Clinton from Spurs have been nominated.
It is worth noting that James has a track record of winning major awards, as she was named the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2023.
The nominations for the male awards have been announced. Arsenal’s Declan Rice and William Saliba, along with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario and Pedro Porro, have been nominated for Premier League Player of the Year. The Men’s Young Player of the Year category also has five nominees: Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, AFC Wimbledon’s Ali Al-Hamadi (who has recently joined Ipswich), Jack Currie, as well as Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr.
In the Goalkeeper of the Year category, West Ham United’s Mackenzie Arnold is the only female nominee. She is competing against Alphonse Areola, Vicario, Bernd Leno from Fulham, and Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace. The Manager of the Year category includes Emma Hayes, David Moyes, Ange Postecoglou, Mikel Arteta, and Richie Wellens from Leyton Orient, all vying for the award.
The awards will be presented at a glamorous ceremony on February 29th, which means James will have to wait to see if she will be receiving another prize.
