Schoolchildren and teachers from the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State, who were recently abducted, have been released.

It is unclear whether they were rescued by security forces or if a ransom was paid for their release. The kidnappers had initially demanded N100 million for their freedom, but it is unknown if this amount was paid.

There were rumors that the kidnappers threatened to harm the children if the ransom was not paid.

The abduction took place on Monday evening, and there were unconfirmed reports on Saturday that the victims had been released, which the police denied.

However, a video clip circulating on Sunday morning showed the freed pupils and teachers sitting on the floor, appearing tired.
