Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, alias Burna Boy, has stated that despite releasing his debut album a decade ago, he is not troubled by the misunderstanding that he is new to the music industry.

Davido provoked outrage last month by lumping Burna Boy together with Rema, Asake, Fireboy DML, and others as “new cats”

Many chastised the DMW boss for underestimating Burna Boy.

However, in a recent interview with Apple Music’s Ebro, Burna Boy stated that it is a good thing that some people believe he is new to the industry, emphasizing that it makes him feel younger and motivated to produce more.

He said, “It is a good thing that people think my movement is new. I love that. Because it keeps me young. It means like, I can do so much more, you know. It stretches my life span.

“I’m living longer than I thought I would than I even planned to, you know.”

The ‘Last Last’ crooner said he has always known that he would be great.

Burna Boy added that he does all kinds of music because he is “trying to make the world understand that music is bigger than a genre. I feel blessed that I can do different genres. It would have been a waste if I had restricted myself to a genre.”
