The police have deployed officers to protect the Presidential Villa, provide security at and around Eagle Square in Abuja, and man all Nigerian borders, seaports, and airports ahead of President-elect Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, announced this in a statement on Thursday, noting that operatives would also be deployed to guard the capital city’s entry and exit ports, as well as other vital government installations.
Personnel for the inauguration included members of the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, Anti-Bomb Squad, FIB-Intelligence Response Team, and Special Tactical Squad, among others.
The police also use helicopters and drones to conduct aerial surveillance on Abuja and its environs, as well as water cannons and armored personnel carriers.

The statement went on to say that police and other security personnel would be stationed along routes leading to and from the inauguration site, while vehicular traffic would be diverted along with others, including the Goodluck Jonathan Expressway by the Court of Appeal; Deeper Life Junction, POWA/FCDA junction, finance junction by ECOWAS/Women Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Eagle Square Phase One and Phase Two.
