Pep Guardiola acknowledges that Manchester City cannot afford to lose any more points for the rest of the season if they want to beat Arsenal and Liverpool to the league title.
The Cityzens made a comeback with a 4-2 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, briefly taking the top spot in the Premier League.
However, Arsenal overtook them after a 3-0 win against Brighton. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta predicted that the title race between Arsenal, Liverpool, and City would come down to the last day of the season. Guardiola now agrees that his team will need to be flawless to defend their title.
When asked if City must win all their remaining games to secure the title, Guardiola responded: “Yeah. It’s three top teams. I would say we arrive at the end with a small margin of difference.”
This year’s Premier League title race is incredibly close. Currently, only one point separates three teams. However, Liverpool has the chance to take a two-point lead if they win against Manchester United on Sunday. This is shaping up to be an unforgettable title race, with none of the top three teams showing signs of cracking under the pressure.
City and Arsenal will be playing in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday. City will be facing Real Madrid, while Arsenal will be up against Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is in the Europa League quarter-finals and will be playing against Atalanta on Thursday before returning to the title race next weekend.
