FCT, Abuja – The parliamentary workers have joined the ongoing protests by the labour unions and as a result, the gates into the National Assembly Complex in Abuja have been closed.

Despite a court order restraining the unions, the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress have announced a nationwide indefinite strike starting on Tuesday.

Last week, the unions issued a nationwide strike notice in response to an assault on Joe Ajaero, the President of NLC, on November 1, 2023, in Imo State.

The National Assembly complex had all its gates locked on Tuesday morning.

Many workers were stranded at the entrance. However, our correspondent reports that despite the lockdown, the House of Representatives is still holding a plenary session.
