Popular Nigerian singer Korede Bello believes that bringing joy to fans is more significant than winning a Grammy award.

The ‘Godwin’ crooner was asked about the reliance of Nigerian musicians on foreign platforms, such as the Grammys, for recognition during a recent interview.

The singer expressed his preference for making people happy through his music rather than receiving any awards.

He said, “Awards are good, but knowing that your music makes people happy is a better feeling.

“When an artiste makes it to the nomination list of a prestigious award, I believe they are already winners. But I believe in rewards from commercial success over awards.

“It is where you work that you will eat. Part of artistes’ food is validation for our art. Validation for making great art is good. And that can be very inspirational for others to make better art.”
