For the first time, the European Union (EU) is implementing sanctions on radical Israeli settlers in the West Bank due to violent acts against Palestinians.
The decision was made on Friday through a written procedure that allows member states to address urgent matters without sending ministers to Brussels.
These sanctions specifically target individuals and organizations responsible for violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, according to diplomats.
Those facing sanctions will be prohibited from entering the EU or engaging in business with EU citizens, and any assets or accounts they hold in the EU will be frozen.
These measures fall under an EU sanctions regime aimed at punishing human rights violations.
