Manchester City defeated Brentford 1-0 at the Etihad on Tuesday night, thanks to Erling Haaland’s goal in the second half.

The victory brought them within one point of Premier League leaders Liverpool. Brentford had a good opportunity early in the game when Yoane Wissa set up Frank Onyeka, but he couldn’t beat Ederson with his shot.

Manchester City then began to play more aggressively and created several chances to score, but they were unable to capitalize on them.

City had a great opportunity to score first after 34 minutes. Kyle Walker headed the ball back across the goal, hoping to find a City teammate. Bernardo Silva got to the ball and seemed like he would score, but his header went wide of the target.

Oscar Bobb almost scored in the first half when he skillfully dribbled past a Brentford defender and took a shot on goal. It looked like it would go in, but Brentford defender Ben Mee cleared the ball off the line.

In the second half of the game, Manchester City’s persistence paid off when Erling Haaland scored the only goal after 71 minutes.

Julian Alvarez passed the ball to Haaland, who took advantage of a mistake by Kristoffer Ajer to face Flekken one-on-one and expertly score past the Bees’ goalkeeper.

Phil Foden had a chance to secure the win in stoppage time, but his shot missed the target.

The final score was 1-0, and now both teams have played 25 games, with City trailing Liverpool by just one point. Liverpool will face Luton Town on Wednesday before the EFL Cup final on the weekend.
