Boss Mustapha, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has claimed that the signature of ex-president Muhammadu Buhari was forged by individuals who withdrew $6,230,000 from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) shortly before the 2023 presidential election.
Mustapha made this statement while testifying on Tuesday, February 13, during the trial of former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele.
He also revealed that his own signature was forged and that he had no knowledge of the money that was supposedly withdrawn for the payment of foreign election observers.
Mustapha emphasized that it was not the responsibility of the federal government or the office of the SGF to request funds from the CBN for such purposes.
The speaker argued that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was solely responsible for handling matters concerning election observers, not the CBN.
A CBN official named Michael Onyeka Ogbu stated in court that the money was given in cash to Jibril Abubakar, an official from the office of the SGF. This transaction was approved by President Buhari and the former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, in response to a request from the SGF.
