Sadiya Umar-Farouk, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, did not show up at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Jabi, Abuja, on Wednesday.

She was supposed to answer questions regarding an alleged fraud of N37.1 billion. According to a source from the EFCC, Umar-Farouk ignored the invitation and did not attend in person or send a representative.

She served as a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari from August 2019 to May 2023.

The anti-graft agency had launched a probe into her activities during her time in the ministry, specifically regarding the alleged laundering of N37.1 billion through a contractor named James Okwete.

A week later, the former minister was summoned by interrogators to the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, by 10:00 a.m.

She did not, however, present at the EFCC headquarters.
