The Nigerian Army has successfully unalived eight Islamic terrorists, including two well-known leaders, in recent operations in Kaduna State.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, made the announcement today in a statement signed.
The operations, which occurred on Wednesday, targeted insurgents in the areas of Igabi, Giwa, and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
During the operations, the terrorists used stolen cattle as shields while engaging the troops in direct combat.
One of the individuals killed in the gunfight was a notorious bandit leader named ‘Boderi’, who was allegedly involved in planning several high-profile kidnappings, such as the abduction of students from Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, and Greenfield University, as well as the attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
Another terrorist known as ‘Bodejo’ is believed to have been killed during recent operations, but efforts are being made to confirm this information through other sources.
The Army spokesman stated that the operations were in response to recent attacks by insurgents in Igabi and Giwa local government areas of the state.
Nwachukwu also mentioned that during a firefight along the Maganda-Dausayi-Mugaba axis, troops killed two insurgents and seized firearms, ammunition, drugs, and other items.
Furthermore, an ambush along the Bada-Riyawa axis on the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road resulted in the killing of six insurgents and the recovery of more weapons and motorcycles.
Although there was some damage to livestock used as shields by the insurgents, Major General Nwachukwu assured that troops are dedicated to eradicating armed violence in the area.
The Nigerian Army is calling for continued cooperation from citizens in the fight against terrorism and insurgencies to safeguard the country’s security.
