Members of the Olubadan-in-Council, also known as the kingmakers, have chosen High Chief Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Olakulehin, the current Balogun of Ibadanland, was officially appointed at a meeting held at Mapo Hall on Friday.

After the previous Olubadan, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, passed away last month, leaving the position vacant, the Olubadan-in-Council gathered at Mapo Hall to nominate Olakulehin. All members present agreed to the nomination.

The Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Lateef Adebimpe, proposed the nomination of Olakulehin during the meeting, which was overseen by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, former governor of Oyo State, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja.

Among the members of the Olubadan-in-Council present at the meeting were Osi Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole Foko; Ashipa Olubadan, Abiodun Kola-Daisi; Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade; Ekarun Olubadan, Adebayo Akande; Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe; Ashipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola; Ekerin Balogun, Dada Isioye; and Ekarun Balogun, Abiodun Azeez. Notably absent was Otun Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola.

Following the confirmation, the High Chiefs intend to transmit Olakulehin’s name to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for formal support.
