Several heavily armed operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja in preparation for the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The hearing for this case was put on hold after the Court of Appeal acquitted Kanu in October 2022.

The Court of Appeal also ruled that Kanu’s abduction from Kenya to Nigeria was illegal and dismissed the terrorism charges filed against him by the Federal Government.

Despite this, the Nigerian government appealed the decision to the Supreme Court.

On December 15, 2023, the Supreme Court ordered that Kanu’s trial on terrorism charges should continue.

It’s important to note that Kanu has been in DSS custody since June 2021, when he was brought back to Nigeria from Kenya.
