The Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, expressed confidence in winning the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress in April and the main election in November this year.
Aiyedatiwa, who took office as Ondo State governor less than two months ago, mentioned that his predecessor, the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, had foreseen him becoming the next governor of the Sunshine State. He praised his late boss for being like a prophet who predicted his future.
These remarks were made during a meeting with officials and members of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers in Akure on Saturday.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Mr. Kayode Fasua, the LACO-FS State Director of Information.
Aiyedatiwa was quoted as saying: “My supporters should continue working and never doubt, as my coming victory in the primary and general elections is the promise of God.
“This (my emergence as governor) is what my late boss, Governor Akeredolu, wanted. A lot of people don’t really know Akeredolu; they don’t know that he was a prophet.
“There was a time after he (Akeredolu) returned from a medical vacation that he told the cabinet members during an executive council meeting, ‘Look, Aiyedatiwa will emerge as the next governor.”
The governor stated that his desire to run for governor was not limited to the agreement he had with the late Akeredolu, but was a genuine effort to improve Ondo State and enhance the quality of life for its residents.
Dr. Oladipupo Okeyomi, the Convener of LACO-FS, mentioned that they have deployed over 250,000 campaigners known as ‘Foot Soldiers’ across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State to ensure Aiyedatiwa’s success in the primary and general elections.
The group’s Director-General, Mr. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, announced plans to visit all local government areas from this week until mid-March, with Aiyedatiwa leading the campaign efforts.
Other APC governorship candidates include Mr. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Mrs. Oladunni Odu, Prof. Francis Faduyile, Chief Olusola Oke, Mr. Gbenga Edema, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, and Dr. Paul Akintelure.
