Bishop Oluwafeyiropo Daniels of iReign Christian Ministry, a Lagos-based church, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ikeja Offences and Domestic Violence Court.
The bishop, who is the leader of iReign Christian Ministry in Lagos, has also been sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a 19-year-old church member.
The judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, has ordered that Daniels serve the rest of his life at the Kirikiri custodial facility in Lagos.
Justice Oshodi stated that the prosecution successfully proved the charges against Daniels and described him as a dishonest individual who lacks respect for the truth.
However, the bishop has been acquitted of the charges involving another church member.
Oshodi stated that the church member had given consent. The judge also cleared Daniels of count four, which involved an attempted assault on a church member.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Daniels faced an amended four-count charge related to assault and attempted assault. This charge goes against Section 260 (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
