Borussia Dortmund is estimating the price of a deal to bring forward Jadon Sancho of Manchester United back to the team for the remainder of the campaign on loan.

Manager Erik ten Hag has banished Sancho from the Old Trafford first team; the 23-year-old has not featured in a United game in the previous four months and has been training apart from the starting lineup.

Ten Hag said in the open that the £73 million addition had to fit in with the team’s standards and ethos.

Sancho was sold by Dortmund to United in 2021, and the Englishman is now interested in a short-term agreement to return to the Westfalenstadion, where he excelled for four years after graduating from Manchester City’s academy.

The Bundesliga team has inquired about the cost of Sancho’s loan and the total amount of salary recovery they would have to pay over the course of a six-month agreement. It would be anticipated that United would have to pay a part of their salary exceeding £200,000 each week.

Ten Hag has maintained that Sancho can return once he satisfies the prerequisites. Sancho retorted on social media that he was being used as a scapegoat after he was left out of the squad for the September match against Arsenal, using his subpar training results as the excuse.

Since then, Sancho has trained apart from the starting lineup, and his departure has seemed to be a means to end the impasse.

Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in him, and despite some incident-filled times at Dortmund (he was fined for violating COVID regulations), his development has established him as a trailblazer for aspiring players hoping to establish a foothold in Germany.

He still has two full seasons left on his deal, and the club has the option to extend it by one more, though it wouldn’t mean much if he wasn’t playing.

During the World Cup last season, Sancho trained with a trainer in the Netherlands away from the first team because Ten Hag noticed a decline in his conditioning and wanted him to follow an individual programme.

When questioned about Sancho at a press conference, Ten Hag said, “It’s physical, but physical is also connected to mental.” After a long hiatus, Sancho returned to United in February and played a significant role in the team’s victory in the League Cup.

Although he came off the bench for the first three games of the season, he began the current campaign with the first team plans. However, after Ten Hag attacked him in post-match interviews, he was benched for the Arsenal encounter.
