Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, is asking the people of the south-east region to show their support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Kalu made this appeal during a dinner held on Friday to honor Martins Azubuike, the newly appointed pioneer commissioner in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) civil service commission.

He pointed out that the president has appointed individuals from the south-east region to important positions in his cabinet.

Kalu also encouraged those who are criticizing the president and his administration to take the time to read and understand the government’s policies.

Additionally, Kalu mentioned that the country’s economy is slowly recovering, with more investors showing interest and the naira gaining strength.

“Support this government. Tell those criticizing the government on social media to stop.  It is time we got integrated into the scheme of things,” he said.

“Let’s thank him wherever we see him for all he has done for us. An Igbo man is handling the protection of our oil and gas.

“The navy is the chief security agency protecting our waterways. So, the resources of the country are in the hands of an Igbo man protecting it and you said the president doesn’t like you? This is a very important position he gave to us.”

The deputy speaker also encouraged Azubuike to promote discipline within the FCT civil service and emphasized the importance of setting a high standard.

“Try to instil discipline in the civil service of the FCT.  Set a standard that people will copy because all his policies and dreams if the civil service doesn’t carry them from point one to point 2, it means nothing,” he said.
