Ghana Angry fans attacked and damaged the team bus of the Black Stars of Ghana after their disappointing 2-2 draw against Mozambique on Monday.
The Black Stars had a lot riding on the game, as they needed a win to secure a spot in the round of 16. In the first half, Ghana took the lead with a penalty scored by Jordan Ayew.
In the second half, they were awarded another penalty, which Ayew also converted.
As a result, Chris Hughton‘s team was well-positioned to earn all three points necessary to advance to the next round.
Ghana’s hopes were dashed, though, as the Mozambicans charged forward and scored a goal in the 91st and an equalizer from a corner kick in the 94th, respectively.
The supporters broke the windows of the bus carrying the players out of the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in a video that went viral as a way to express their rage at the squad.
Angry journalists from Ghana blocked the bus as a way of expressing their dissatisfaction after the incident.
As a result, Ghana’s chances of qualifying depend on the outcomes of other matches to determine if they can make it as one of the best third-placed teams.
So far, they have only managed to accumulate two points. In a surprising turn of events, Cape Verde emerged as the leaders of Group B, while Egypt secured the second position with three points.
