Ogun Ghastly Road Accident Kills One

In the early hours of Tuesday, a traffic crash involving two automobiles near Long Bridge by Hogan Guard Area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway killed one person and critically injured 14 others.

According to an eyewitness, the tragedy occurred when a tyre on a Volkswagen minibus carrying passengers with registration number LSF264YD pulled out in motion, causing a collision with a Toyota Camry automobile.

The Volkswagen bus was said to be coming from Ogun State’s Mowe axis before it started moving. This resulted in the accident with the Toyota Camry with the registration number SMK191FK.

Florence Okpe, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the occurrence when reached.

She determined that the accident was caused by a tyre pull-out in motion.

She said, “I can confirm the accident which happened at about 06:50hrs on Tuesday. Two vehicles were involved, a Volkswagen minibus with registration number LSF264YD and a Toyota Camry car with registration number SMK191FK. The cause of the accident was that the tyre of the Volkswagen bus pulled out in motion and it collided with the Camry car, which resulted in the death of one person while 14 people were injured. A total of 16 people were involved.”

Okpe stated that the injured were transferred to the Accident Emergency Hospital in the Ojota region of Lagos state, while the deceased were deposited at the Divine Touch Hospital morgue.
