Kylian Mbappe will not leave PSG this summer, having informed Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he will stay for the 2023-24 season.
Mbappe’s tale has stretched on for years, with yet another twist. The Frenchman, who has previously stated that he does not intend to extend his contract with PSG beyond 2024, now appears certain to give them at least one more season.
Indeed, the Ligue 1 club attempted to sell Mbappe in order to avoid losing him for free, but the 24-year-old has informed the club that he will not be leaving this summer – to join Real Madrid or anybody else.
Mbappe’s decision is sure to enrage his club, which naturally does not want to lose him for nothing in a year.
He was left out of PSG‘s Asia tour team and appeared about to go, but he has since notified the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, that he will stay and finish the final year of his contract.
Mbappe’s choice to stay in Paris for another year means he’ll be a free agent for Real Madrid in the summer of 2024. The French club paid a whopping €180 million to sign the forward from Monaco in 2017, and not receiving a transfer fee for him is both embarrassing and financially disastrous.
