Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, acknowledged the criticism surrounding the distribution of palliatives but emphasized that many Nigerians are still going to bed hungry.

He stated that while he personally does not support giving out food and cash as palliatives, the current situation necessitates such actions due to widespread hunger.

During an interview on ChannelsTV, Governor Sule highlighted the importance of addressing immediate hunger while also focusing on sustainable solutions for self-reliance.

He proposed providing skill training and working capital to graduates and farmers to help them start their own businesses.

He also mentioned plans to work together with institutions such as the Bank of Industry (BOI) to create more opportunities for young people.

Governor Sule reiterated his belief in teaching individuals how to be self-sufficient rather than just giving them assistance, highlighting the importance of self-reliance.

However, he recognized the importance of providing aid, especially during times of severe hunger, such as during the Holy month of Ramadan and Lent for Christian communities.

Allub Times recalls that two individuals recently lost their lives and several others were injured in a stampede during the distribution of aid in Nasarawa State.
