Nigerian disc jockey DJ Cuppy has admitted that she had a tough year last year because she didn’t say “No” enough.
She specifically mentioned regretting not saying “No” to her ex-fiance, Ryan Taylor.
Speaking at a recent event overseas, DJ Cuppy shared that she has learned the importance of setting boundaries and saying “No” when necessary.
She said, “One of the things I have learned is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no. I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to. I didn’t say no to taking things on.
“I was at the BBC; I had a morning breakfast show, then I was DJing, i was planning a wedding, I was in Oxford University. I burnt myself out. And none of us is good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It’s okay to say no.”
In July 2023, Cuppy and Ryan broke up, just seven months after getting engaged in November 2022.
