Jarrod Bowen scored his first career hat-trick to help West Ham break their nine-match winless streak in all competitions with a 4-2 win over relegation-threatened Brentford at the London Stadium.
He opened the scoring just five minutes into the game, right after Tomas Soucek missed a close-range chance. Bowen then scored his second goal by converting a low cross from Vladimir Coufal.
However, Brentford managed to pull one back through Neal Maupay, making it 2-1 within the first 13 minutes of the match.
The game calmed down after that, with the Hammers, especially Mohammed Kudus, missing several chances.
However, in the second half, they secured the win, with Bowen scoring a hat-trick and Emerson adding a fantastic long-range goal.
Brentford scored a late goal through Yoane Wissa, but it was only a consolation, as they are now five points above the relegation zone after losing six of their last seven away games.
It is no coincidence that West Ham ended their eight-match winless streak when Lucas Paqueta returned from injury in the same game.
The Brazilian international had not played a Premier League game in 2024 before this match, but he played for 77 minutes and made a big impact in attack.
Although he missed some shots, he was part of many dangerous attacking plays and boosted his teammates’ morale.
