President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that despite Nigeria facing numerous challenges, he remains committed to his reforms and is confident that his administration will overcome these challenges.
The president made this declaration today while meeting with a delegation from the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in Abuja. The delegation was led by Florizelle Liser, the President and Chief Executive Officer of CCA.
“We are right in the middle of a challenging stage of our reforms. We have headwinds, no doubt, but we are not going back,” Daily Trust quoted Tinubu as saying.
The President reiterated his strong commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and stability, stating that he will continue working towards his vision for the country.
He commended the recent installation of a 45,000-kilometre submarine fiber optic cable in Akwa Ibom State, which now connects the entire South-South region of Nigeria to Europe and other parts of Africa through the Atlantic Ocean.
Recognizing the significance of this milestone, the President noted that with the right policies, partnerships, and determination, Nigeria can overcome longstanding obstacles that have impeded progress in various sectors.
President Tinubu, drawing on his extensive experience in corporate governance and his past interactions with CCA during his tenure as the two-term governor of Lagos State, expressed his satisfaction with the Corporate Council’s dedication to fostering business relationships between the United States of America and Africa.
”I am happy that the Council is interested in various segments of Nigeria’s economy… ‘We are challenged, and we believe we will overcome the challenges. I have a can-do attitude that must be translated into a must-do attitude. We have a good team, and we must remain focused to get the goal accomplished,” he said.
The Nigerian leader reaffirmed his commitment to creating a positive environment for businesses to succeed.
Tinubu emphasized that his government’s main focus is on investing in important areas such as agriculture, solid minerals, energy, healthcare, infrastructure, trade, finance, technology, and the creative industry.
He explained that this dedication is driven by the goal of ensuring the welfare and prosperity of the people.
”We are going to do more on security and investing in education, as we believe that education is the greatest weapon against poverty. We welcome partners like CCA, and we will strengthen our partnership to achieve our goals,” he said.
During her speech, Ms. Liser highlighted CCA’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic growth in line with the eight key areas outlined by President Tinubu’s administration.
She invited President Tinubu to participate in CCA’s US-Africa Business Summit, taking place in May in Dallas, Texas. She also urged him to see CCA as a valuable partner in promoting trade, business, and investment between the USA and Nigeria.
