Nigerian singer and former member of The Remedies, Eddy Remedy, has revealed that his father was involved in crafting the Nigerian national anthem.

He disclosed that his father, Ashiedu Brown, a retired police officer, served in the Nigeria Police Band, which played a pivotal role in composing the anthem.

Despite his father’s integral contribution, recognition for this achievement was solely attributed to his superior, Benedict Elise Odiase, who held the position of band director at the time.

This oversight deeply affected Ashiedu Brown, as he never received any official acknowledgement or national honors for his part in creating the anthem.

Eddy Remedy shared that this disappointment influenced his father’s opposition to his musical ambitions. He explained during a recent interview with Daddy Freeze, “Now I understand why my dad didn’t want me to do music. Because they did the same thing to him.”

Eddy Remedy lamented the injustice, highlighting his father’s overlooked role in the anthem’s composition and the subsequent recognition given to his boss instead.
