Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be present at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final, where the Super Eagles will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
The announcement was made by Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), during his media interaction on Friday.
During a press conference at the Palace de la Culture in Trechville, Abidjan, Motsepe was asked about the possibility of Africa hosting the World Cup again.
The South African replied, “Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it.”
Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, was present during the Super Eagles’ victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
The final match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast will take place at the Alassane Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.
