Kanayo Warns Igbo Community Against Participation In Nationwide Protest

Published:

In light of the economic challenges in Nigeria, popular Nollywood actor Kanayo O Kanayo has cautioned the Igbo community regarding the proposed nationwide demonstration against the administration led by President Bola Tinubu.

Kanayo delivered the cautionary message in a widely circulated video posted on his official Instagram account on Saturday evening, addressing the prevailing economic hardships in the nation.

Expressing concern that Igbos often find themselves targeted in various situations across Nigeria, Kanayo stressed the importance of the Igbo community refraining from participating in protests, suggesting they align with Davido’s song “I’m Unavailable” instead.

Highlighting the pervasive economic crisis, Kanayo remarked that if Igbos are deemed unfit for leadership roles in the country, they should similarly abstain from engaging in protests. He emphasized, “Hunger knows no religious affiliation,” underscoring the universality of the economic challenges faced.

Kanayo urged Igbos to be cautious and vigilant, particularly in light of past experiences where they were unfairly targeted.

Meanwhile, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the leading Igbo socio-cultural organization, echoed similar sentiments in a statement issued by its President General, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, advising Igbo youths against participating in the proposed nationwide protest.
