Manchester United have reportedly had initial discussions with former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte as Sir Jim Ratcliffe plans to replace Erik ten Hag.
There are also reports suggesting that Julen Lopetegui is attracting interest at Old Trafford.
Currently, United are in sixth place in the Premier League table, eight points away from the top four. It is believed that Ratcliffe is looking to rebuild the squad in the summer.
However, there may be other changes happening as well. As previously mentioned by TEAMtalk, some club officials see Ten Hag as an interim manager rather than a permanent one.
Fortunately, United have won their last two matches, which has relieved some of the pressure on the Dutch coach.
Despite being knocked out of the Champions League in the group stages, the future of the coach at the club is now uncertain.
According to a report from Caught Offside, via Teamtalk, there is no immediate intention to replace Ten Hag, but there is a belief that he may be fired if Manchester United’s performance does not improve significantly in the second half of the season.
The report also mentions that Manchester United has already reached out to Julen Lopetegui and Antonio Conte as potential replacements for Ten Hag as Ratcliffe prepares for the possibility of his departure.
It is claimed that Lopetegui was recently approached by Saudi club Al Ittihad but declined the opportunity to become their manager because he believes there may soon be an opening at Old Trafford.
Lopetegui has a lot of experience at the highest level, having previously managed Porto, the Spain national team, Real Madrid, Sevilla, and most recently Wolves.
The 57-year-old has worked with some of the biggest names in football and achieved success at Sevilla, particularly winning the Europa League in 2020.
On the other hand, Conte would be a more complicated addition for United, as he prefers to stay in Italy near his family. However, he has not completely ruled out the possibility of managing in the Premier League again and has not reached an agreement with AC Milan, despite reports suggesting otherwise.
