The Nigerian Army has taken decisive action in response to the recent midnight invasion of the Adamawa Police Headquarters, which led to the tragic loss of lives, including army personnel and a police inspector, during the invasion.

Brig-Gen. Mohammed Gambo, the Commander of the 23 Armour Brigade in Yola, has been indefinitely removed from his position as a result of the invasion.

Reports indicate that Brig-Gen. Gambo had previously led a mobilisation of heavily armed soldiers, with 12 trucks reportedly involved in the invasion of the Adamawa Police Command Headquarters. In light of this, Brig-Gen. Paul Zawaya, from Michika Local Council in Adamawa, has been appointed as the new leader, taking over the command.

During a meeting at the Yola Government House, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri welcomed Brig-Gen. Zawaya and expressed his enthusiasm for the new commander’s appointment.

Governor Fintiri highlighted the importance of addressing crime in the state, particularly focusing on kidnapping and other criminal activities.

He expressed concern about the invasion and emphasised the need for increased cooperation among security agencies to combat criminal elements in Adamawa.

The governor assured the new commander of his unwavering support in making the state free from crime for the well-being of all residents.

In response, Brig-Gen. Zawaya promised to prioritise and maintain security throughout Adamawa, pledging to work tirelessly to protect the state and its people.
