A recent attack on Thursday by suspected bandits resulted in the deaths of 10 people and numerous injuries in Kukar Babangida village, located in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The victims include the Village Head of Kukar Babangida, Zauren Katsina, and his four children.

According to residents who spoke to Channels Television, the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday at 1:30 a.m., when most residents were asleep.

The village is home to approximately 6,000 individuals, primarily farmers and herders. Kukar Babangida has been consistently targeted by bandits since the rise of banditry in the state.

“Even within the week, two bandit attacks were recorded in the Jibia Local Government Council. One of the attacks was launched along the Jibia-Batsari axis, and the other attack was carried out in the heart of Jibia town itself, and with each of these attacks, lives were lost,” a resident said.

The Katsina State Police Command has not responded to the attack. Several phone calls were made to the Command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, but they were unanswered at the time of filing this report.
