In light of the sit-at-home directive, traders in Enugu have been encouraged to resume their normal business activities or risk losing their license and shops.
Governor Peter Mbah, who issued the warning, stated that enough protection had been provided in the areas and that there had been no incidents of violence since the sit-at-home ban was imposed in June.
Remember that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) announced every Monday a sit-in to seek the release of the banned group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Meanwhile, the governor cautioned that shopkeepers who did not return to their business zones on Monday, July 24, risked losing their stores to more serious businesspeople.
He emphasized that such sit-at-home directives limit the state’s creativity, entrepreneurship, and output, and he threatened to close any schools, marketplaces, or financial institutions that followed the order.
The governor told traders at Ogbete, Garki, and other markets that closing stores on Mondays would no longer be tolerated.
