May, the first wife of actor Yul Edochie, is said to have filed for divorce from her estranged husband. May and her attorney are said to have appeared in court today, July 10, to file a petition for the dissolution of her 18-year marriage to the actor. Insiders say Yul has refused to be served with the first summons.

The pair has been at odds over his decision to marry actress Judy Austin as a second wife and have a son with her. Yul stated in April 2022 that he and Judy had a son and that she is now his second wife.

May has never veiled her displeasure with his marriage to Judy. May issued a statement in September 2022, expressing her displeasure.

Prior to the exceptional circumstances of her marriage, she maintained that she had a secure and loving home. She stated that polygamy is a personal choice and that no one should be forced to embrace it.

She emphasized that some religions and cultures permit polygamy and that she has nothing against it, but that as a person, she will not be counted or cajoled into accepting a behavior that contradicts her beliefs and family values.

Yul has recently been widely attacked on social media for’moving on so rapidly’ following the death of his first son, Kambilichukwu, who died unexpectedly in March.

Some Nigerians believe that videos of him and Judy having fun together, which he routinely shares online, indicate that he has moved on. They claim he hasn’t grieved his son long enough to be sharing such ‘happy videos’ of himself and Judy.
