Representatives of organized labour on Friday walked out of a meeting with the Federal Government’s subsidy palliatives committee.
The meeting was a continuation of their discussions on palliatives to mitigate the impact of the country’s subsidy elimination.
The labour team, led by the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, did not speak to the press as they left the conference venue.
On Wednesday, representatives from the FG and labor met, and the conversations were positive.
When the discussion resumed on Friday, the administration was anticipated to provide input on some of the demands expressed by labor.
However, the meeting was canceled because labor authorities claimed that the government representatives were not present.
Members of the labor teams were also stopped at the State House gate before entering the meeting location.
The price of gasoline has risen significantly since the elimination of the subsidy. Labour has pledged to strike in order to secure palliatives for Nigerians as a result of the move.
