Military officials in Gabon are said to have discovered suitcases and bags full of various currencies in the family home of the country’s former president, Ali Bongo.

The money was reportedly discovered in bags and suitcases hours after the military seized power following Bongo’s re-election after 14 years in power and placed him under house arrest.

The money was discovered in the home of Yann Ngulu, the Chief of Staff of the deposed President’s eldest son, Nourredine Bongo.

The suitcases were shown stuffed with bundles of CFA francs, dollars, and Euros in the viral footage that circulated on X on Wednesday.

His father, Omar Bongo, ruled for 42 years. The Bongo family had been in control for a total of 56 years, which prompted the coup and sparked online indignation.
