The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its rejection of the outcome of the Shinkafi State House of Assembly rerun election that took place on February 3, 2024.

The party has stated that the result of the rerun polls will not be accepted by the election petition tribunal.

The APC argues that the final election results, as declared by the Returning Officer, are a clear violation of the Electoral Act 2022 and demonstrate a disregard for the rule of law, democracy, and morality.

The party views this as a blatant infringement on the constitutional rights of the people of Shinkafi Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

“We members of APC in Zamfara State stand with judgements of the two courts, not selection by INEC and its co-travellers in the subversion of the will of the people of Shinkafi Local Government Area,” a statement signed by Alhaji Yariman Kwaren Ganuwa, its Publicity Secretary, said.

“The good people of Shinkafi State Constituency should please remain calm. Another legal battle has just begun to reclaim our stolen mandate.

“Hon. Usman Shettima Mahmud Aliyu of APC remains the authentic winner of the election with the highest lawful votes.

“The ballot is sacrosanct. We are strongly determined to uphold and protect the integrity of the nation’s electoral process.”

The party went on to say that the alleged “selection of Mustapha Usman Shinkafi, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,” would not stand.
