Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has rejected comparisons between herself and fellow artist Tiwa Savage.
After her performance at the opening ceremony of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Alade responded on her X to a fan’s comment, claiming she was superior to Tiwa Savage.
Unimpressed by the fan’s statement, Alade urged them to support and celebrate both artists, emphasising that they are both successful.
She dismissed comparisons as “the thief of joy.”
The fan had written, “U better than Tiwa [Savage],” prompting Yemi Alade’s response: “Comparison is the thief of joy. We’re both winning… Celebrate and support us all.”
