Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has stated that Claudio Echeverri, a 17-year-old Argentine talent, is being watched. Numerous elite clubs in Europe are interested in signing the River Plate starlet, and since his contract expires in December 2024, a move will probably occur either in the summer or during the January transfer window.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, two of La Liga’s rival teams, are among the numerous elite teams that have been connected to Echeverri. Top scouts were drawn to the attacking playmaker during the under-17 World Cup, as his three goals were crucial in securing Argentina’s place in the semi-finals.
It was earlier on Friday that reports suggested River and Barcelona were negotiating a deal for Echeverri that might cost more than €25 million. Before playing against Valencia, Xavi answered questions about his knowledge of Echeverri and whether he thought Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi would reunite at Inter Miami during his pregame press conference.
“It’s not official that Luis will be travelling to Miami, is it? Since they are such good friends, they intend to get back together. Many former Barcelona players will make an excellent team.
“Echeverri is a talented football player; he is a differential player beyond the three goals against Brazil, but this is the scouting area that is it,” the coach said.
