Nigerian singer Joeboy believes that Wizkid’s recent comments about Afrobeats were misunderstood.
Wizkid received criticism after stating on social media that he no longer identifies as an Afrobeats artist because he creates various types of music.
Joeboy defended Wizkid on the Big Friday Day Show with Tacha on Cool FM in Lagos, emphasizing that Wizkid was not abandoning Afrobeats.
He said, “Wizkid’s statement is being misunderstood, he is not running away from Afrobeats. All we are saying is our identity is Afrobeats, but please don’t box us because we can make other genres of music too.”
