Nigerian singer Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, also known as Joeboy, claims that Grammy-winning star Wizkid inspired young artists in the country to believe they, too, can achieve popularity at a young age.

This was said in the most recent episode of the Body & Soul audiovisual podcast.

According to the ‘Baby’ singer, “before Wizkid, it was difficult for young artists to blow early.”

Joeboy stated that after seeing Wizkid for the first time, he knew he was going to be a celebrity.

He said, “One thing I really appreciate about Wizkid is that he made young artists believe that they could pop [hit stardom] at a young age. Before Wiz, if any artiste pop, it was probably at a very later stage in life. But after Wiz young people started coming through.”
