Former Aviation Minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has accused prominent Islamic Scholar Ahmad Gumi of attempting to incite religious and ethnic conflict in Nigeria.

To that end, Fani-Kayode warned that such an attempt to destroy Nigeria should be avoided.

Recall that the cleric stated that Nigeria cannot afford to assign the job of security to Christians.

He made the remark during a sermon in which he stated that President Bola Tinubu could not be re-elected for a second term if certain demands were not met.

His remarks came after Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, met with an Israeli official in Abuja.

Wike raised the problem of security in Abuja during his visit.

Gumi, enraged at the meeting, demanded Wike’s removal, claiming that he intended to turn Abuja into Tel Aviv.

In response, Fani-Kayode urged the Federal Government to caution Gumi about his views.

The demand was made by the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in a two-and-a-half-page piece published on Sunday.

The article reads partly: “Whichever way you view him, one thing is clear: Gumi is trying to ignite a religious and ethnic war in Nigeria and someone needs to call him to order before it is too late.”
