Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed that Victor Boniface, a forward for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has returned to training after recovering from an adductor injury that kept him out for three months.
Victor Boniface has been out of action since early January 2024 due to an adductor injury that required surgery. This injury also caused him to miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria came in second after losing 2-1 to the hosts in the final on February 11, 2024.
On Monday, March 25, the top-ranked German Bundesliga team posted photos on their official Instagram page showing 23-year-old Boniface training with some of his club teammates who were not away on international duty.
In the caption, Bayer Leverkusen wrote, “Two things that make our Monday sweeter: Training being back on and @boniface_jrn working on his comeback!”
Based on current information, Victor Boniface is expected to be ready to play when Bayer Leverkusen faces Hoffenheim at BayArena on Saturday, March 30th, at 3:30 p.m.
Before his injury, the Nigerian player had scored 16 goals and made eight assists in 23 games across all competitions.
Additionally, Sky in Germany reported that a Premier League team has shown interest in Victor Boniface for the upcoming 2024 summer transfer window.
The report also mentioned that Bayer Leverkusen is not actively looking to sell the Super Eagles striker, but they may consider it if a potential buyer offers more than €55 million for his transfer.
