The United Nations Security Council will vote later on Wednesday on competing recommendations for action on the situation in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Palestinian militants Hamas, according to diplomats.

Both countries are seeking UN Security Council measures to address food, water, medical supply, and electrical shortages in Gaza. However, the US has asked for pauses to let aid into Gaza, while Russia has requested a humanitarian cease-fire.
