Galeno scored a last-minute goal to give FC Porto a 1-0 win over Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 match at Estadio do Dragao.

Porto didn’t have much possession early on but had a good chance to score when Galeno hit the post and then missed a close-range shot.

Arsenal struggled to create scoring opportunities, but came close with William Saliba’s header from Bukayo Saka’s corner.

The second half saw Porto’s Evanilson denied by a great block from Declan Rice, and Gabriel missing a header in stoppage time.

It seemed like the game would end in a draw, but Galeno scored a stunning goal from 25 yards out in added time to give Porto the advantage going into the second leg at the Emirates on March 12.

Arsenal will now focus on their Premier League match against Newcastle on Saturday.

Arsenal last reached the Last 16 of the UCL in 2010, when they beat FC Porto 6-2 on aggregate. This is their first time at this stage in six years.

Despite their dominance and control in the recent match, Arsenal surprisingly lacked attacking power.

They came into the game with a five-match winning streak, scoring 21 goals, but struggled to create chances against Porto’s defensive tactics.

Arsenal have never won away against Porto, but Porto has also never won in North London. Arsenal remains optimistic that they can still win the tie in front of their home crowd at Emirates Stadium.
